Who Clicks on Ads?

The Mona Lisa of Articles

For quite some time I’ve been sitting thinking about what I actually feel like writing about next and I just completely hit a blank. I was thinking about something that people would love to read, something that people will spot immediately, something that would make everyone curious to read more, but my mind in its 3rd person realised that I was up to ideas that I would by no means be able to accomplish & packed its bags & ran away as fast as it could, leaving me behind with absolutely nothing.

“Mindless” I started pulling out the old archives in the deepest dark corners in the back of my head with the hope of finding a topic that would be one of a kind, the Mona Lisa of Articles. Unsurprisingly disappointed I could not even start to think of what to write about and sat back encouraging my unwilling mind to come back to me.

“What is it that I want to accomplish?” There is no way possible that I could be able to engage all users of those whose eyes will cross this topic. After all, the people that I want to attract to my articles would ideally be the ones willing to click on an ad from my article. This was when I asked myself “Who clicks on Ads?” I tried thinking of different ads that I came across during my online life and then tried to remember if I ever clicked on them. My whole perspective changed when I realized that I know nothing about the people I want to attract to my articles who would subsequently be the ones to click on one of the ads on my articles.

So I armed myself with Firefox and started doing some research on who these anonymous ad clickers are. I learned that most of people who click on ads are middle-class people who are scavenging the internet for small things to satisfy their needs. When it comes to big material goods, like cars, people don’t buy them online, they mostly do research on these items and then rather approach a sales agent themselves instead. Service providers might be a complete different ballgame, support products as well, everything have their custom levels of dealership.

If I want to buy a pc game, I don’t punch the name into Google, go into some random site and go click on the 1st ad I see advertising the game I want, I’ll much rather browse to Amazon and directly do my purchase from there, unless I’m doing some price hunting. The trend I have picked up is that a part of these anonymous ad clickers are mainly middle class women or housewives that are up for sweepstakes & another big part partaking in adult entertainment.

The type of viewer I want to attract is the online shopper, someone that loves online advertising. To take advantage of PPC (Pay per click) advertising I need to study Google ads that reveal the secrets to online marketing strategies that attracts the ad clicker. The company that rents the ad pays every time someone click on their ad therefor they must make sure by selecting the right keywords that they attract the potential buyer and not just anyone.

My research in attracting my potential ad clickers will continue and maybe someday I will master this art.

For now I will file this topic in that dark cabinet in the back of my mind as this is yet another article that will not attract the ad clicker, but rather someone that might be interested in what I had to say. Nevertheless, thank you for taking the time to read this article.

I enjoyed reading this, and all I can say is that... If that lovely Megan Fox/Mona Lisa picture had "Win a Date with Megan Fox" under it, there'd be many clicks coming your way... Let's get in touch with her, perhaps she'd be willing to support the income of some earnest freelance writers. :)

Web technical people click on ads less than non-technical people. People that work in the web field or that are on the computer all day can pretty much "not see the ads at all". They see so much ads that their minds automatically blocks it out, and they intuitively focus right on the page where there are no ads.

I am ex MMORPG and I sometimes have withdrawal because nothing beats MMORPG when you at war with others and need to gear up and get your character stats maxed out.
